Trisha McMahon spends her work days developing and monitoring a 600 million dollar operating budget, directing research and analysis, and managing people and expectations for the San Francisco City Administrator's Office. She's been on the MWS Board of Trustees for four years, serving as Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chair. She has a Masters in Public Policy from University of California Berkeley, a BA in International Studies from the University of Arizona, and a passion for public service. When not doing good for the world, she tries to enjoy the beauty of it all with her lovely spouse, two amazing children, and two fluffy cats.

Steve Monahan is a real estate developer, father of two, and lifelong builder—whether that's communities, businesses, gardens, or the occasional home improvement project. As a parent at Marin Waldorf School, he is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Board and support a school community that values curiosity, creativity, and whole-child education.
When he's not at work, Steve enjoys mountain biking, skiing, gardening, and exploring the outdoors with his daughters.

Sarah Whitmore is a seasoned Waldorf educator with more than 25 years of teaching experience. She began her teaching journey at Árbol de la Vida in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and completed the four-year teacher training program at Rudolf Steiner College.
She later led a bilingual kindergarten class at Summerfield Waldorf School for eleven years before joining Marin Waldorf School, where she served as a lead teacher in the early childhood program from 2017–2022. During her time at Marin Waldorf School, she also served as College Chair and helped shape faculty initiatives focused on nurturing a culture of belonging, human dignity and mutual respect.
In 2021, Sarah and her husband spent two years at Portland Waldorf School before returning to Marin Waldorf School, where she served as Grades Director in 2023–2024.

Sarah Whitmore
Amie Spitler is a Marin Waldorf parent and serves on the Board of Trustees, where she chairs the Governance Committee and supports strategic planning and community initiatives. She is a lifelong artist and currently works as a Creative Director. Amie was the founding Executive Director of a Bay Area family foundation, where she helped shape the organization and developed and led initiatives supporting artists and cultural organizations. She holds a BFA in Interior Architecture from California College of the Arts and an MFA in Transformative Arts and Consciousness from John F. Kennedy University. She also serves on the Mill Valley Arts Commission.
She is especially interested in strong governance, thoughtful long-term planning, and using imagination and strategy to share the enduring value of Waldorf education and its importance for children today. Amie lives in Mill Valley with her husband and son.

Katie Heneghan joined Marin Waldorf School’s faculty in 2022. The following year she became a class teacher, leading the class of 2031 from 1st through 3rd grade. Before joining our faculty, she worked as a nature connection mentor, facilitated health programming in middle and high schools, taught at a performing arts school, and served as a counselor at a wilderness therapy program. Ms. Heneghan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Whitman College and a Master’s in Public Health specializing in Community Health Education from the University of Minnesota. She graduated from the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training in 2023. When Ms. Heneghan is not busy teaching, she enjoys spending time birding, doing jigsaw puzzles, attending plays, traveling near and far, and coming home to her cat, Green Bean.

Trish Boes is an MWS parent and joined the MWS Board of Trustees in January 2026. Trish is the co-founder and CEO of UnlimitMe, a Bay Area-based human connection company that creates spaces for young leaders to explore their whole-human selves, build meaningful community, and develop the inner skills needed to live purpose-driven lives. Drawing on her unconventional life and nearly 20 years of organizational leadership experience, Trish designs experiences where students build resilience, reclaim their inherent worth, and learn to lead with clarity and confidence. She leads a growing company that partners with marquee institutions across California, including the University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, and Cal State Northridge, among others. Trish holds a Master’s in Spiritual Psychology, is a certified ontological coach, and her thought leadership has been featured in Forbes, Nasdaq, and Thrive Global.

Roland Baril has more than 30 years of experience in teaching and leadership roles at Waldorf schools in New York and Northern California, including as a class teacher at Greenwood School in Mill Valley, where he also served as the dean of education. Additionally, Mr. Baril was the Leadership Council Representative for the Mid-Atlantic Region Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) from 2002 to 2007. He graduated magna cum laude from Sonoma State University with a degree in history and received a masters in Waldorf education from Sunbridge College in New York. In 2005, he completed a 5-year training in Spatial Dynamics and movement education. Mr. Baril lives with his wife, Michele, in Sonoma County. In addition to teaching, he is the front man for a local outlaw country band, and he enjoys motorcycle tours, sports, traveling, cooking, horses, and spending time with his two sons, who both attended Waldorf schools from preschool to 12th grade.

Originally from Colombia and now residing in Novato, Sandra has over 15 years of executive experience across hospitality, marketing, and sales within the luxury food and wine industry. Leading strategies for boutique estates, Sandra specializes in bridging analytical rigor with high-touch relationship building. Her professional path is deeply informed by her diverse background in science, culinary arts, and holistic food systems. The Marin Waldorf School community has been their home since 2014. As a dedicated practitioner and consultant in biodynamic farming practices for wineries, Sandra integrates these sustainable methodologies into both her professional advisory work and her personal life, where she maintains a biodynamic backyard homestead. She is honored to leverage her strategic experience to support the school's dedication to holistic child development, and mindful community growth.

Sandra Tafur
Rising Percey has taught at Marin Waldorf School for ten years and is currently guiding her third cohort of students through the upper grades. She serves as the school’s 6th Grade Teacher and Middle School Academic Chair, and has served on the College of Teachers for six years and the Board of Directors for five.
Before becoming a Waldorf teacher, Rising directed an adult literacy center in Honolulu and later taught literature and writing to middle and high school students at SAT preparation centers throughout the Bay Area. She holds a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from UC Berkeley and completed her Waldorf teacher training at the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training in 2016.
Rising was drawn to Waldorf Education for its emphasis on community, personal responsibility, creativity, and the development of the whole human being. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time outdoors and with family and friends, as well as music, swimming, and good food.

Michael DeMaria was recruited to JLL’s Agency Leasing group in October of 2010 because of his depth of experience in leasing San Francisco office buildings. On behalf of his Landlord clients, Michael has listed over 30 buildings for lease, totaling over 3 million square feet during his 13-year career in San Francisco brokerage. Michael came to JLL from Colliers International where he gained his depth of market knowledge and his unique ability to lease even the most challenging of office spaces, regardless of the market conditions. Michael’s strong connection to the brokerage community gives him a unique ability to invigorate a listing and he and his team always provide the highest quality of service and results to his clients.
