May Faire and Grandparents Day

  • Marin Waldorf School 755 Idylberry Road San Rafael, CA, 94903 United States (map)

The earliest May Day Celebrations were to honor the changing of the seasons, from darkness into light, and that a tree, the symbol of the "tree of life" and of the great strength and vitality of Nature, was used in the ritual. The May Faire is a joyful, colorful festival of spring. The celebration comes with the promise of rebirth - the renewed life of the soul.

At Marin Waldorf, May Faire is always a joyous day and a visual delight! Our school is decorated in fresh flowers and every student makes a beautiful handmade flower crown to wear to the festival. Students in grades 1-8 dance around the may pole, accompanied by music by the 7th-8th grade orchestra.

In this joyous celebration, Grandparents will have the opportunity to meet school faculty and staff, visit classroom, eat lunch with the student they are visiting, and attend the annual May Faire festival, where our grandparents and special friends will be honored. It's one of the most beautiful and beloved events of the year! Lunch will be provided for all grandparents and special friends.

Family dancing and feasting will follow.  We will have a table for you to make your own May Faire flower crowns.

Family, friends and extended community are welcome!
